Research & future

Music and AI

This work package drives forward-looking knowledge development on AI, music and sustainable revenue models. The academic research and educational expertise contributes, together with industry organisations, to creating and openly disseminating new knowledge across both the industry and society.

By developing practical pilots in AI-based creation and creating forums for dialogue on copyright in the digital age, the results of this work package can be used to prepare the music industry for new technological realities and strengthen the protection of creators' rights.

Activities

2.1 AI & Creative Practice

The project conducts research and development-based pilot projects and studies on AI's impact on and opportunities for music creation and performance. The project explores new tools and methods for human–machine interaction in creative contexts.

The questions addressed include both risks – such as copyright and homogenisation – and opportunities, such as new creative expressions and efficient production methods. There is a strong need within the music industry to better understand AI development and its implications.

Skills strengthened

  • Understanding of AI as a tool in artistically creative environments
  • Technical competence and development of new working methods
