Tour production in music

A self-study course on tour production — the whole arc, from booking and budget to delivery and what happens after the last show.

The course follows two real tour processes: a promising artist building an audience, and an established artist with international ambitions. The two cases show which challenges differ and which roles a tour actually needs.

The aim

To give you a deeper understanding of the tour process and the phases of production planning, plus practical tools for thinking and working around touring. Participants also get a budget template to build their own tour budget in.

What the course covers

  • Introduction — the basic concepts of tour production
  • Production, companies and roles
  • The booking process
  • Marketing and the on-sale
  • Production planning
  • Budget — with a template to work in
  • Advanced pre-production
  • Delivery on the road
  • After the tour
  • Sustainability in the industry

Who is it for?

Artists and bands, and touring staff — working or aspiring — who want to strengthen their understanding of tour production.

Course leader

Evelina Eliasson has spent ten years in the live industry. She started at festivals including Hultsfredsfestivalen, Bråvallafestivalen and Getaway Rock Festival, then worked in tour production at Headstomp and Live Nation. Today she runs Yaay Productions with Julia Isberg, providing tour production and project management for concerts and festivals. She has planned and delivered tours with some of Sweden’s biggest artists.

How self-study works

The course is entirely web-based. Once accepted you get an account in Kulturakademin’s learning platform Learnster, where all the material sits together — video, text, exercises and links. You work through it when, where and at the pace you like, and you can pause and come back. Finish it and you get a certificate automatically.
